Our conscious dance movement therapy sessions enable you to connect body, mind and spirit as you are guided by our facilitator through opportunities to communicate through dance and movement with your inner self, fully embody and accept who you are, express yourself freely, respond to things you love and the things you want to change, and empower you to take the steps you need to bring about that change.
Although no two sessions are the same, typically, a conscious dance-movement session will involve a guided visualisation exercise for grounding & intention setting, gentle guided warm-up, moving to the core ‘dance as you feel’ inspired movement expressing emotions, releasing tensions and freeing the spirit. The session concludes with a period mindfulness for calm reflection and integration.
The health and well-being benefits of dance are well documented, including the release of ‘happy hormones’. Conscious dance-movement provides access to all those benefits without the discipline and potential pressure of learning dance steps. It enables you to be in the moment, express your thoughts and feelings and be in control in a setting that is safe and non-judgemental. All this, supported by the emotional power of music.
It is no coincidence that dance has been, throughout human history, an integral part of human existence. That’s because dance and movement are inherently therapeutic, connecting mind, body and spirit. Conscious dance-movement has been found to be beneficial for people experiencing anxiety or depression, low self-esteem or lack of self-confidence, or for anyone who wants to feel energised and empowered as they tackle day to day challenges.

I wasn't sure about what to expect from spirit dance class initially however; It turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life. During the session, all the trapped emotions and inner fears came out and I felt rejuvenated and liberated. Varsha was very supportive and reassuring throughout the session. I could experience the positive effects during and after the session. I strongly recommend it to everyone.
